The case of a missing Kisii woman, a recovered hand, and a son suspected of murder

It has been a month since Mama Yuniis Bitengo's, 71, the hand was discovered in a corn farm one kilometer from her home, with her sole son suspected of complicity in the alleged murder.

The rest of her body has not been located, and her family believes she was murdered and dumped somewhere.

Villagers in Nyakeyo, South Mugirango, Kisii County, now want authorities to solve the mystery of the widow's disappearance in Getonto village.

"We have detained ten persons. They are being held by the police. Among the suspects are the woman's sole son and a female village elder "said Etago police chief Labal Omol.

Mr. Omol stated that the suspects are assisting police with their investigations and that more people are being sought.

Son is the primary suspect.

According to police sources, the woman's son, the main suspect in the murder, paid the killer Sh4,000 to have his mother killed. Another Sh2,000 was to be added after the murder.

The widow is alleged to have refused her son's offers to sell her a less than one-acre plot of property, which enraged him.

Villagers believe the grandmother's body was buried somewhere unknown. They did, however, recover her hair, house keys, and clothing at the maize plantation.

Police are seeking to recover her remains or, at the very least, locate her alive.

"My mother-in-law had gone to a nearby homestead to sample the local brews. This occurred on June 29, 2022. She then vanished, never to be seen alive again "said

"My mother-in-law had gone to a nearby homestead to sample the local brews. This occurred on June 29, 2022. She then vanished, never to be seen alive again "Ms. Boke Marwa stated.

A letter written in Ekegusii was later recovered in the village, implicating the majority of the arrested people.

According to Ms. Marwa, the family searched for the woman for two weeks before discovering her remains.

Because the woman's body is still missing, relatives say they are unable to proceed with burial arrangements.
