Siaya: Newborn baby found dumped in market

Police in Rarieda sub-county are pursuing a woman who allegedly dumped her newborn baby at Ndigwa market on Monday night.
The body of the infant was found while wrapped and stuffed inside a carton box after. It is said to have been dumped immediately after delivery.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was reported to Madiany police station by the Assistant Chief of Naya sub-location, Victor Otunge.
He stated that the administrator reported that a body of a seemingly newborn infant had been found dropped at a roadside within Ndigwa market while wrapped and put inside a carton box.
Kimaiyo stated that officers from Madiany Police station then visited the scene and moved the body to Madiany sub-county hospital mortuary to await autopsy and further identification as investigations begin to find and arrest the woman who committed the heinous act.
She took the opportunity to caution young mothers to desist from the habit of dumping their newborn babies.
