Machakos: Massive losses incurred after fire razes down a paint company

A paint production factory has been razed down by an inferno in Athi River, Machakos County.

The four godowns were razed after fire broke out at the private firm located along Nairobi- Mombasa highway early Saturday.

Athi River south sub-county police commander Jos Mudavadi said the fire reportedly broke out at around 3:00am

It was reported at Athi River police station as a fire incident at 3:30 am Saturday.

Mudavadi said that the fire started at godown number 2. He revealed that the scene was visited by Athi River OCS accompanied with his team alongside their DCI counterparts and informed the Mavoko sub-county fire brigade.

The police said several water boozers from within Athi River supplied water to assist in fighting the inferno.

Paint and chemicals used in manufacturing of paints were among items salvaged from the fourth godown that was partially consumed by the inferno.

Fire fighters involved in containing the incident were from Kenya Air force, General Service Unit, Mavoko and Machakos sub-counties.
