Machakos: Female University Student Found Dead Inside Boyfriend's Rental House, Hands Tied

Police on Tuesday found a female university student dead at her boyfriend’s rented house in Katoloni estate within Machakos Township.

Machakos subcounty police commander Emmanuel Okanda said the deceased was studying Bachelor of Education at the university before her demise. The boyfriend is a fellow student at the same university.

“This morning we received a report that there was a body belonging to a Machakos University student which was lying inside a house at Diaspora rentals," Okanda told the Star on Tuesday.

"Our officers visited the scene that is about 4 kilometres South from the station and established that the deceased’s hands were tired from behind using shoe laces."

Okanda said the deceased had blood oozing from her ears, nose and ears when the body was being moved from the house.

He said preliminary investigations had revealed that the woman was murdered on Monday night. Two suspects including the boyfriend had been arrested and locked up at Machakos police station.

The police boss, however, said the investigations didn’t reveal whether the deceased was hit by blunt objects leading to the death.

The deceased was lying facing downward when police visited and processed the scene.

Her age hadn’t been established by the officers by press time.

“We have two suspects in custody to help in the investigations. The body was moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy to reveal age, whether she sustained other injuries and cause of death,” Okanda said.

Okanda said they had launched investigations into the incident.

He warned the students against involving themselves in crime urging them to concentrate on their education. Okanda also told the students to avoid abusing drugs and substances.

The police boss further urged the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands.

He told them to seek counseling services from either elders, clergy, among other relevant members of the society.
