A newborn baby has been rescued from a pit latrine in Ogembo town, Kisii County.
According to the authorities the baby, believed to be just one day old, was found dumped in a pit latrine at a rental house.
One of the residents heard the baby's cries emanating from the latrine and raised an alarm.
"The resident alerted others, and the community members quickly came to the baby's aid," locals revealed.
The infant was taken to Gucha Sub County Hospital, where medical staff reported that the baby is now in stable condition.
Residents have been urged to avoid resorting to such decisions and instead seek assistance from the community.
