Homabay: Form 4 student suspected of hacking his mother to death
A 16-year-old student is being detained at Mbita Police Station over allegations of murdering his mother at Kitare Village, Homa Bay County.
The suspect, who is a form four student at Nyatoto Mixed Secondary school is said to have hacked his 39-year-old mother identified as Nelis Ogutu to death using a machete
According to Kayanja Sub Location Assistant Chief Moses Sirawa, the suspect arrived home from school on Thursday evening and attacked his mother immediately after evening meals.
Sirawa says investigators suspect that the boy could have committed the heinous act out of mental problems.
He first strangled the deceased before hacking her with a machete over an unknown reason.
Members of the community who heard commotion at the widow’s home rushed to the scene and apprehend the suspect.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kirindo mortuary.
