Police in Rachuonyo South Sub-County, Homa Bay County, have arrested four suspects and recovered a significant cache of stolen police uniforms and ammunition.

The operation, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Kosele Police Station, was launched after reports surfaced of individuals attempting to sell police equipment in Oyugis Town.

According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, two young men, Jeff Omondi, 18, and Nashon Odwar, 19, were found in possession of various police-issued items in Oyugis Town.

Omondi was caught with two live rounds of ammunition, a jungle police hat, and trousers, while Odwar had an Administration Police (AP) jungle jacket and two live rounds of ammunition.

Although Odwar managed to escape after being interrogated, Omondi provided information that led police to Samwel Otieno, 18, who is still at large.

Following the lead, officers proceeded to search Otieno’s residence, located at his grandfather’s home, Jacob Okuku.

The search resulted in the recovery of numerous security-related items, including two functional G3 magazines, 41 live rounds of ammunition, three blank rounds, raincoats, military jungle boots, lanyards, and a Maasai sword.

During interrogation, Okuku claimed the items belonged to his son, APC Robin Ochieng Okuku, an Administration Police officer stationed in Bomet County. This prompted the arrest of Okuku and his daughter-in-law, Grace Aroko, the AP officer’s wife, for questioning.

The suspects are currently being held at Kosele Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
