Elgeyo Marakwet : Keiyo Mother Demands Justice After 10-Year-Old Son Beaten Badly Over 'Potato Theft'
The boy is recuperating in hospital after the Sunday evening attack.
The assailants are accused of beating the boy after potatoes went missing from one of their farms, two kilometres away from the boy’s home.
The boy’s mother told Wananchi Reporting that she reported the attack to Kaptagat police station in Chepkorio and her son was admitted to Chepkorio hospital on Monday.
"I reported the incident and was given an Occurrence Book (OB) number, but I'm not sure any action will be taken," the mother said.
She said her son was innocent and demanded justice.
The mother lamented that her son has been unable to walk properly following the attack and tests revealed traces of blood in his urine.
The attack left area residents in shock, with several saying that even if the boy was culpable, the victims should not have taken the law into their own hands and assaulted him.
