Eldoret: 29-year-old woman found guilty of murdering her husband

A 29-year-old woman accused of killing her husband has been found guilty of murder by the Eldoret High Court.

Melisa Muhinda, who is a mother of two children, alongside a boda boda rider named Ekiru Amatuka were found guilty of killing Geofrey Matenje on October 6, 2018 in Kamukunji, Eldoret town.

Eldoret High Court judge Reuben Nyakundi, in a ruling on Monday said that the prosecution presented enough evidence in court to prove that the two were involved in the murder of Matenje who was working as a newspaper vendor.

Nyakundi ordered the two to be detained in Eldoret prison until June 3, 2024 when the court will give a sentence.

In the 2018 incident, Muhinda hacked her husband, mutilated his body and stashed it inside a sack.

Being in communication with Amatuka, Muhinda hired his boda boda to help her transport the mutilated body parts.

Suspicious member of the public accosted them, when Amatuka escaped, leaving Muhinda behind.
