Police in Busia County have arrested two high school students for being in possession of bhang with an estimated street value of Ksh.690,000.
The offenders, a 17-year-old Form Four student and his 16-year-old Form Three accomplice, were apprehended at Suo roadblock by detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) leading a multi-agency operation.
The duo had reportedly boarded a Guardian Angel bus en-route to Nairobi from Busia when they were intercepted at the roadblock.
"Acting on a tip-off, a vigilant multi-agency team stationed at the Suo roadblock intercepted the bus. A meticulous search ensued, leading to the discovery of five bales of cannabis, weighing a total of 23 kilograms, cleverly concealed in the students’ bags," the DCI said in a statement.
"The street value of the seized cannabis is estimated at Ksh.690,000."
The suspects are currently being detained at Busia Police Station pending arraignment.
