At least ten people are undergoing treatment at Sirisia Hospital over suspected food poisoning.
Sirisia Sub County Hospital supervisor Edith Wafula said the ten were rushed to the facility after consuming flying termites, popularly known as kumbikumbi.
“Ten individuals, including children, were admitted to Sirisia Hospital on suspicion of food poisoning,” Wafula said.
She added that those hospitalized complained of stomach pains, diarrhea, and general body weakness; all symptoms of possible poisoning.

The affected individuals reportedly consumed termites purchased from a local vendor at Sirisia Market, which was later confirmed to be toxic.
Residents have been urged to stay vigilant to ensure food safety.
