Tanzanian songstress Zuhura Othman Soud, popularly known as Zuchu, recently showered praises on her mentor and lover, Diamond Platnumz, for playing a pivotal role in shaping her music career.
In a recent interview with a local TV station, Zuchu credited the award-winning musician for helping her rise to fame not only in East Africa but also beyond the region.
She described Diamond as a selfless and visionary artist, noting how his influence helped her break into the limelight.
According to Zuchu, Diamond's support was crucial in her journey, as he is known for nurturing and mentoring many successful artists in the Tanzanian music scene.
“From where he came from, he could have easily focused on his own music and nobody would have blamed him. But instead, he has been a hero to many artists in Tanzania and East Africa,” Zuchu shared, stressing Diamond's role in uplifting other musicians.
She acknowledged his effort in shaping the careers of rising stars and said, “It takes a lot to put an artist out there, and his legacy speaks for itself.”
Diamond’s selflessness was explained by Zuchu as she recalled how he paused his career to focus on her when he signed her to his Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) label in April 2020.
“He took a risk by putting his career on hold to support mine. He trusted me, and I will forever be grateful to him for that,” she stated.
Zuchu's debut in the music industry with her EP I Am Zuchu in 2020, which featured seven tracks, quickly garnered her massive success, making her one of East Africa's most streamed female artists. Her dedication earned her recognition, including the 2020 AFRIMMA Best Newcomer Award.
Despite their thriving music careers, Zuchu and Diamond's relationship has been marked by public breakups and dramas, but the two remain one of the most talked-about couples in the Tanzanian entertainment scene.
