Zuchu is the daughter of famous Tanzanian Taarab singer Khadija Kopa.

"The things my mum did for my dad, I would never have given him a child. My mum used to force my father to be close to me. They have never stopped communicating; that is the weird part, but my dad would never ask about me. She would even say, Zuhura is here; talk to her, but my dad does not have an interest. My mum did a lot, and he just didn't want me," she said.

According to Zuchu, her dad is remarried.

"I always wanted to have a relationship with him. I knew his house, but I knew he had a wife and other kids, and at the time, that other side was more important. But my mum has never kept me away," she added.

Speaking on a Wasafi FM interview in March 2024, Zuchu's mum Khadija Kopa shared her experiences with younger men.

She stated she has trouble finding a man her age.

"I’ve seen them but I don’t want boys. God has not granted me the will to get a man who is mature.”

The legendary artist emphasized her preference for mature companions, asserting that younger suitors do not suit her.

"I tell them they are kids, they don’t deserve me and I tell them to go look for younger women. I don’t have time for that,” she added

Speaking in a Tiktok video, Zuchu said her mum tried everything to ensure the duo had a relationship to no avail.

Kopa's late husband, Jaffary Ally (he was not Zuchu's biological dad) passed away in 2013 after a brief illness in Bagamoyo.

She fondly recalled his love and support, often mentioning him during her stage performances.

She also lost her only son Omar Kopa, a talented Taarab singer, a few years ago.
