As earlier announced, Rwandese gospel musician Israel Mbonyi will not perform at Bishop Allan Kiuna’s Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) in Parklands. The singer, known for his hit song Nina Siri, was expected to arrive in Nairobi on Saturday, August 3, and minister at the church the following day.
Reverend Kathy Kiuna had initially shared a joint poster on her social media platforms and JCC, announcing Israel Mbonyi’s upcoming ministry at the church. However, she has since removed the poster. Nairobi News understands that plans have changed, with Mbonyi’s arrival rescheduled to next week.
Nairobi News reached out to Mutala Mukosia, one of the singer’s event organizers, for clarification on the sudden change.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Israel Mbonyi will not be able to arrive in Nairobi as previously communicated on Saturday, August 3. His new arrival date has been rescheduled to August 6th. We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience this change may cause. We understand the importance of this event and assure you that a revised schedule will be promptly shared with all concerned parties.” Mukosia explained.
Despite the disruption, fans of the gospel star can look forward to seeing him at The Africa Worship Experience on August 10, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex along Lang’ata Road. The highly anticipated event is set to bring together worshipers from across the region for a night of praise and worship.
In addition to his performance, Mbonyi will be in the country for a week, during which he will also participate in media interviews.
“He will be in the country for one week. He will leave the country on the 11th,” Mutala added.
This event marks a significant moment for Mbonyi, who has longed to perform in Kenya.
“Hello, beautiful people of Kenya, this is Israel Mbonyi and I have good news to share. I’m thrilled to announce that I’m coming to Kenya this year 2024. I will be performing live in Nairobi at the Africa Worship Experience on the 10th of August 2024 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex along Lang’ata road,” Mbonyi had earlier announced.
