Sanitary towels and diaper prices dominated the conversation of Kenyans concerned that certain tax proposals of the Finance Bill 2024, could see the cost shot up, making it even more unaffordable.

According to sections in the Bill, an eco levy would be applied on imported finished products while those locally manufactured will be exempt.

President Ruto on Tuesday hosted a Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting at State House Nairobi, ahead of protests, where he announced that the levy had been dropped.

Nominate Senator Karen Nyamu was among KK leaders. She updated about her location.

"Dissecting the finance bill at the ongoing Kenya Kwanza PG at statehouse."

After the meeting, Karen shared more pictures where she wrote,

"Mr. President akiniona tu lazima anienjoy ah ??" she showed laughing photos.

This did not go down well with netizens, who enquired about her official position on the Eco Levy.

"Umesema you do not care about pads prices juu unatumia tampons ?????" wrote one concerned Kenyans. Karen reacted

Karen on her Instagram commented, " ....@wanjikustephens hehehe does it mean if u use pads u don't care about tampons. I use tampons yes! And that trigger for some people."

The user named Wanjiku was not done, "...@karenzo.nyamu those pads and tampons already highly taxed as we speak those pads should be 100% free come on board to fight some of these things for our people is all I ask."

Nyamu also engaged several others who were not happy with her response to Wanjiku.

i.am_nyamkamba wrote, "..Umesema you use tampons wow!!! Let me report this account immediately," they said as Karen addressed them.

Below are more Kenyans taking Karen on her stance;
