Not only did she steal the show politically during the Orange Democratic Movement’s twentieth anniversary celebrations in Mombasa on Friday, November 14, 2025, but Winnie Odinga also caught the attention of women who have been admiring her online for weeks.
The East African Legislative Assembly Member of Parliament delighted and amused the crowd with a personal acknowledgement aimed at the growing group of social-media admirers.
Winnie addressed the women who have been expressing admiration for her online in recent weeks, saying she had seen many of their videos on TikTok and Instagram.

“Ningependa kuwashukuru madem wa ODM, nimeona videos zenu nyingi, TikTok na Instagram lakini mambo yenu ni tofauti kidogo, iyo tutakubaliana kwenye inbox,” Winnie stated.
“I would like to thank the ladies of ODM. I have seen many of your videos on TikTok and Instagram, but your issues are a little different. We will discuss that in the inbox.”
The craze surrounding Winnie on social media began during the time of her father’s passing, particularly following her speeches honouring him. Women on TikTok and Instagram began creating edits, montage videos, and memes celebrating her poise, style, and presence.
Among them is popular content creator Chebet Ronoh, who, in a widely shared video, declared her admiration:
“At that point Niko jinsi… nikajua uyo ni bibi yangu.”
Winnie, wearing an ODM t-shirt, was invited to the podium by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna. As soon as her name was announced, the crowd erupted in prolonged cheers that filled the venue.
In her speech, Winnie also expressed gratitude to Kenyans who supported her family during the difficult days following her father’s passing. She thanked everyone for their messages of condolence, noting that the nation’s shared sorrow had strengthened her resolve.
“Long live ODM. I can hear that many of you have been looking for me, and today you have found me. First, I would like to say thank you. You all know that I am a leader who does not speak often. There is a time to speak and a time to work, and I know the difference,” she said, also paying special tribute to the women of ODM for their prayers and encouragement.
“I would like to thank all of you for standing with us when we lost Baba. I know that because of that, we are all carrying a deep sadness. Today, I take this moment to appreciate all the young people of ODM. I have received your messages of condolence, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much. I would also like to thank the women of ODM. The women of ODM prayed for me so that I could leave home, come here, and meet with you,” Winnie added.
