Nominated senator Karen Nyamu has insisted she was the one who ended her relationship with Mugithi star Samidoh, dismissing claims that she was dumped.
The two, who share children together, quietly went their separate ways in 2024. Neither had been forthcoming about the reasons behind their split, but Nyamu now maintains that she left the musician because she refuses to be controlled.
In a recent exchange with her followers online, the politician clapped back at suggestions that Samidoh had been the one to walk away.
“Me nakaa mtu alikataliwa? Am I the one singing Karen Nyamu’s name in all mugithis every weekend? Ebu enda uskie wimbo inaitwa Toxic Love tena lol,” she claimed.
Nyamu went on to shade her ex, claiming that he not only name-drops her at concerts but even dedicated the song Toxic Love to her.
She went on to allege: “When a woman has money, the only thing she wants is to be a single mum. Faking happiness in marriage and spreading bitterness on social media on happy women pages is not life.”

Toxic Love: Samidoh’s Side of the Story
In the emotional track, Samidoh sings of a painful and complicated romance he cannot seem to walk away from.
“The mother of my kids, you truly loved me. I also loved you from the bottom of my heart. I still have memories of my conversations with you talking about our future and that of our kids,” he croons.
The lyrics go on to describe him as a “victim of love” torn between his heart and his intuition.
At one point, he laments hearing from his lover’s workplace that she values a Range Rover more than a guitar, a metaphor for her desire for a more comfortable life.
Despite his longing, Samidoh confesses he must free himself from the “prison of love.”
Viral Kiss with Edday
In July 2025, attention returned to the couple’s history after a video of Samidoh passionately kissing his wife, Edday Nderitu, in the United States went viral.
The moment, captured during a TikTok live session with family and fans, showed the pair looking happy and affectionate as they enjoyed quality time with their three children.
Samidoh had joined his wife and cousin Bernice Saroni for a beach outing streamed online.
When fans began requesting a kiss, he obliged, sparking a flood of love emojis. Bernice even encouraged viewers to send virtual gifts for another display of affection.
The public kiss inevitably drew Nyamu’s name into the conversation, with one follower, Laura Chebet, asking her directly: “Senator did you see Samidoh kiss?”
Never one to shy away from a sharp retort, Nyamu shot back: “Then when he kisses me on Friday you’ll start drama.”

A Complicated History
Although she now insists the relationship is over, Nyamu has in the past defended polygamy, particularly when it came to Samidoh.

“I support polygamy because some men, like Samidoh, have too much energy for just one woman. Why would you want to keep such a strong man all to yourself? Some men are meant to be shared—just accept it,” she once argued.
Her involvement with the singer, however, attracted heavy criticism, with many accusing her of disrupting his marriage to Edday.
The controversy contributed to significant strain in the household, eventually leading Edday to relocate permanently to the United States with the couple’s children.
