Betty Bayo’s widower, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, has opened up about the online bullying he has endured following the death of his wife, revealing the emotional challenges that have accompanied his grief.

Speaking during Kikuyu singer Ngaruiya Junior’s event at the Mark Hotel on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Tash shared that while he is not usually active on social media, he has become aware of posts and comments targeting him since Betty’s passing, describing the experience as difficult but something he is determined to overcome.

“Although I am not very active on social media, I have seen what has been happening online. I am making myself strong,” Tash said.

Tash revealed that he plans to seek guidance from Facebook influencer and singer Karangu Muraya on how to handle social media harassment effectively.

He explained that he wants to learn how to respond to online negativity without letting it affect his mental well-being, emphasising that his faith in God remains his anchor during these challenging times.

“On that matter, I will seek guidance from Karangu Muraya to learn how to handle online bullying and understand how people behave on social media. I remain strong because I know God helps us, and I will continue to strengthen myself,” Tash added.

In addition to addressing the issue of social media attacks, Tash acknowledged the support he has received from friends in the music industry, particularly Ngaruiya Junior.

He recounted how Ngaruiya assisted him during a personal crisis in Kahawa West and continued to support him and his family during his wife’s illness, including helping secure blood donations and platelets when her condition worsened.

“For Ngaruiya, I have nothing much to say because we are good friends. I remember he once helped me when I had a problem in Kahawa West. I want to tell him to stay strong because he has faced many battles, and I witnessed him overcome them. Even when my late wife was sick, Ngaruiya supported us, helping us with blood donations and platelets when her condition worsened. God bless him,” Tash said.

Tash also attributed his strength to the solidarity shown by fellow musicians and members of the music community, noting that their support has been invaluable in helping him navigate both personal grief and online harassment.

He expressed gratitude for the consistent encouragement and practical assistance he has received, highlighting the importance of these friendships during his most challenging moments.

“Praise God. I want to thank God for being here today. I have come to support my brother, Ngaruiya Junior, because we have come from far with him. Even when I started dating Betty Bayo, he was the first person to know, and through him, I got to know other Kikuyu singers, and things moved on. I also want to send a warm message to all the singers who have supported us as a family during this difficult period. Thank you, and God bless you,” Tash added.
