Sylvia Ssaru open up about her music career and

Sylvia Ssaru has been keeping her promise of delivering back-to-back hits, and she’s lived up to it.

The Gengetone artist appeared on TV 47 on Friday, October 11, where she reflected on the significance of her latest song, describing it as massive.

"Leave caring for the old folks in retirement homes; if you need care, go there—they need compassion," Ssaru quipped, as her infectious anthem steadily climbs the charts, securing her an unprecedented achievement in her career.

She expressed happiness about her growth as an artist. “If you deal with Ssaru, huruma ni estate,” she said playfully. Her latest hit, Maintain Ivo Ivo, is a collaboration with fellow rapper Trio Mio.

"I sent it to Trio after recording, and he took about a week to add his verse. I held onto it for around four months. When I was finally ready to release it, I knew I had been quiet for a while in the industry. I was working on some things, so I took my time, and eventually, I decided to shoot a visual for the song," she explained.

Reflecting on her place in Kenyan rap, Ssaru shared an interesting tidbit about the track. “Fun fact: I recorded the song last year, around this same time in October. I held onto it because I had other projects, and it was supposed to be part of my EP. I wasn’t entirely sure about it at first.”

Ssaru thanked her fans for the success of Maintain Ivo Ivo, which has already reached 3 million views. "It’s at 3 million right now," she said proudly.
