Kenyan artist Stoopid Boy has stirred fresh controversy after bluntly refusing to apologise to media personality Oga Obinna during a live television interview.
The two, once closely associated, have been embroiled in a public fallout following Stoopid Boy’s rehabilitation journey—a process in which Obinna played a significant role.
During the televised segment with a local TV station on the night of Saturday, July 12, 2025, the host attempted to mediate a moment of reconciliation by asking Stoopid Boy to offer an apology for publicly badmouthing Obinna after his return from rehab.
However, Stoopid Boy declined, asserting that he had nothing to apologise for and instead accused Obinna—and the rehab facility—of exploiting his situation for marketing purposes.
Fallout with Obinna
The artist argued that although Obinna had played his part, money was the main cause of their rift. According to Stoopid Boy, he had been taken to the rehab for marketing purposes, and they were to share the money that had come out of it.
He insisted that he cannot apologise since he was double-dealt after being promised his share once he came out of the rehab centre, but got none.
“Oga Obinna alicheza part take, haikuwa ati nimfuate nyuma. I don’t know how to beg for a relationship. Mimi ni mse nabonganga, yaani sikuwa nataka kusaidiwa hivo sana. Kunipeleka rehab niliappreciate tulikosania salary ju mimi napenda dooh na nimetoka ghetto,” Stoopid Boy said.
Loosely translated as: Oga Obinna played his part, but it wasn’t like I was supposed to follow him around. I don’t know how to beg for a relationship. I’m someone who speaks my mind—honestly, I didn’t even want that much help. I appreciated him taking me to rehab, but we fell out over money because I really value money, and I come from the ghetto.”
“Mimi siezi omba msamaha ju pia niko na kiburi ya mjaluo. Rehab nilikuwa nimeenda kumarket ile place, na hiyo dooh walikuwa wamesema wanajitafutia yao ya rent na ati wangenipanga nikitoka rehab. Mimi nikitoka rehab nilikuwa naexpect kukuwa kazi, sikuwa naexpect kukuwa kazi ya ujinga. Na hata kitu tumekosania ni pesa.“

Loosely translated as: “I can’t apologise because I also have the pride of a Luo. I went to rehab to market that place, and they had said they were sorting out their own rent money and that they would set me up after I left rehab. When I came out, I expected proper work, not some foolish jobs. And to be honest, the main issue we fell out over was money.”
Obinna, who has previously spoken about supporting Stoopid Boy’s recovery, including facilitating his admission into a rehabilitation program, appeared visibly taken aback by the remarks.
He had maintained that his actions were out of goodwill and concern for Stoopid Boy’s well-being.
