Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has opened up on the issue sorrounding Kenyan music and the fact that Tanzanian music is dominating the Kenyan industry.

The Freshi Barida hitmaker said Kenyan musicians are not working hard enough especially when it comes to the type of music they release and the lyrics and song composition.

Speaking in an interview with 2Mbili, Stevo compared himself to Tanzanian Bongo Star Diamond Platnumz, adding that unlike other Kenyan artists, he releases decent and meaningful songs which everyone in the society can relate with.

"Mimi sana sana napenda kuhimiza jamii, kuwapatia ujumbe, siimbi ngoma za kupotosha watu. Si kila mtu huwanga anaskia ngoma za hepi, kusisimua mwili, kuna wazee ma bikizee kuna watu wazima imbeni ngoma amabazo ukiwa pale kwa nyumba unaziskia na mzazi. Wakenya tutieni bidii najua watu pia walikuwa wanasema Stevo Simple ni Diamond wa Kenya. Hizo zikitulia mi naachilia ngoma. Wasanii wa Kenya pia watie bidii waache kuimba ngoma ambazo hazileti shangwe."

The artist has been having problems with his management, Men in Business, and he is yet to upload new songs on YouTube since they are still in control of his social media accounts.

"Tunangojea logins za account ya YouTube, Facebook na Instagram. Nikishapewa nitaachilia ngoma. Nimetry kuwareach out so wanasema kulikuwa na madeni ya directors na producers. Nilikuwa nimeomba izo ngoma ambazo ziko kwa hio channel wachukue revenue waniachie account."
