Stevo Simple Boy Reacts to Diamond’s Comments about his Intelligence

Singer Stevo Simple Boy has made a light-hearted reaction after Tanzanian bongo flava icon and Wasafi Records CEO Diamond Platnumz commented on his intelligence in a video that he posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

In a follow-up post shared on his Instagram stories on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Stevo took a screengrab of Diamond’s comment and added his own playful take, bursting into laughter over the fact that Diamond had taken such keen interest in his affairs.

“Ati akili yangu si ya Kenya,” Stevo wrote on his Instagram stories, followed by a trail of laughter emojis.

Loosely translated to: “So you mean my intelligence is not Kenyan?”

Stevo’s video

The video that caught Diamond Platnumz’s attention featured Stevo addressing a wave of online reports suggesting that he was trending in the Samia Suluhu-led nation.

In the video, Stevo can be heard expressing genuine curiosity, asking his followers to enlighten him as to why he was trending, saying he needed to understand the sudden fame.

“Why am I trending in Tanzania? Daah,” Stevo said in the video, his signature simplicity and raw humour shining through.

It was that moment of honest bewilderment that prompted Diamond Platnumz to weigh in with a witty remark, responding that Stevo was trending in their country because the rumour mill had it that he was the most brilliant person in Kenya.

In his cheeky comment, Diamond went further to jokingly cast doubt on the claim that Stevo possessed the highest IQ in the land, a comment that left the “Ndio Maanake” hitmaker gleaming with delight.

“Wanasema eti wewe ndiyo ile ‘akili ni ya Kenya’… no, nimekataa si wewe,” Diamond wrote on Stevo’s post, sealing the jest with rolling laughter emojis.

Loosely translated to: “They are saying you are that ‘intelligence from Kenya’… no, I disagree, it is not you.”

Upon seeing the comment, Stevo responded almost instantly, confirming with flair and humour that not only was he the most intelligent person in Kenya, but he had also bestowed upon himself the lofty title of “dragon of Africa.”

“@diamondplatnumz mimi ndiyo dragon of Africa… waaah,” Stevo wrote.

Loosely translated to: “I am the dragon of Africa… wow.”

‘Katam’ song connection

The entire exchange stemmed from Diamond Platnumz’s efforts to promote his newly released track ‘Katam’, a collaborative piece with Kenyan singer Bien, in which one of the verses makes reference to Kenya’s intellectual pride.

The song, which Stevo also tagged in his Instagram story, seems to celebrate Kenyan women’s intellect, with Diamond and Bien lyrically praising the brilliance of the Kenyan brain and encouraging people not to dispute its greatness.

“Ati akili ni ya Kenya,” Diamond sings in the track.

Loosely translated to: “They say intelligence comes from Kenya.”

“Yule anayepinga asimame. Sema ukweli wako ni haka katam katam,” Bien follows with.

Loosely translated to: “Let the one who disagrees stand up. Speak your truth—this is that real katam katam.”
