Kamba gospel musician Stephen Kasolo has penned a heartfelt tribute to fellow musician Rhoda Grootveld, celebrating her unwavering friendship and the role she played during one of the most difficult periods of his life, his time in police custody.

In an emotional message on Facebook on November 22, 2025, Kasolo praised Rhoda for showing him unwavering support, compassion and spiritual strength, especially during his time in jail.

He recalled moments when he felt completely overwhelmed but said Rhoda consistently encouraged him, reassuring him that she would walk with him and reminding him that God would make a way.

“Dutch girl Rhoda Grootveld ni malaika wangu anayeishi Duniani. Huyu alitumwa kwangu na Yesu mwenyewe. Kama sio yeye kuna siku ningekwama lakini aliniambia, ‘Relax, I’ll walk with you, and God will make a way.’ “I can never forget that period of time,” Kasolo wrote.

According to the Tumite Mbali hitmaker, her words helped him stay grounded and hopeful even when circumstances were difficult.

Kasolo revealed that despite going through her own health struggles at the time, Rhoda never failed to check on him.

She called frequently, prayed with him and offered comfort that he says he will never forget. To him, this selfless gesture proved the depth of her loyalty and the purity of her friendship.

“Ata nikiwa Jela huyu dem alikuwa anapiga simu na tunaomba pamoja nayeye despite kuwa alikuwa mjongwa wakati huo. Do you have a friend like this one?” Kasolo highlighted

The singer went on to describe Rhoda as a cherished member of his family, noting that those close to him also recognise the special place she holds in his life. He playfully addressed critics, telling anyone who might be jealous to “relax”, adding that Rhoda’s support comes from a genuine place and is humorous.

Kasolo acknowledged that many people may not understand the strength of such a bond, joking that some “get jealous for nothing”, but emphasised that Rhoda remains a beacon of light to him.

He also shared that their connection began through content creator Rick Be, a detail that made the friendship feel even more meaningful to him. Kasolo expressed gratitude for the divine timing and the blessing Rhoda has been in his life.

Through his tribute, Kasolo encouraged his fans to celebrate the friends who stand by them through tough seasons.
