Kenyan singer Jovial has shed light on the difficult and often unspoken challenges of motherhood, revealing her traumatic delivery experience and ongoing recovery.
In a heartfelt post on social media, the “Such Kinda Love” singer described the immense toll that childbirth has taken on her body and mind.
“I am taking a break… a break from social media. My body is completely broken, broken into small pieces and I don’t know how to put the pieces back! 8 hours of prolonged labor and still went under the knife! 9 cm dilated for 8 hours. I’m still traumatized, you can even see it on my face! Anyway, God is my strength and I want to go on this healing journey calm and quietly,” she wrote.
The new mother, who recently welcomed her baby, said she will continue to release music because “that’s what I know best.” However, she asked her fans for space and time to heal privately.
For many women, the delivery process can be a physically and emotionally draining ordeal.
Hours of intense labor can be accompanied by unbearable pain, exhaustion, and in some cases, emergency interventions like cesarean sections.
Beyond the physical strain, mothers often face the shock of rapid hormonal changes, the fear of medical complications, and the mental toll of navigating life-and-death moments in the delivery room.
These realities are rarely shown in the public eye, yet they shape a mother’s first moments with her newborn.
The Unspoken Realities of Motherhood
Jovial's candid confession has sparked important conversations online about the parts of motherhood that are rarely discussed publicly.
