Senate Speaker Amason Kingi Mourns Loss Of His Bodyguard John Lumumba

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has expressed deep sorrow following the sudden death of his bodyguard, Corporal John Lwane Lumumba, describing him as family and a dedicated public servant gone too soon.

 

In a statement on Thursday, January 1, 2025, Kingi recalled spending time with Lumumba shortly before his passing, saying the loss came as a devastating shock. 

He described how they had been walking and chatting jovially moments before he was later informed that Lumumba was no more.

“Gone too soon my young brother. The cruel hand of death has snatched you so fast,” Kingi wrote.

Kingi emphasised that Lumumba was more than just a member of his security detail, noting that their relationship went beyond duty.

He praised the late corporal for his unwavering dedication, professionalism and loyalty, qualities that earned him deep respect both personally and professionally.

“To me you were not just a bodyguard, you were family. I admired the way you discharged your duty with utmost dedication, professionalism and loyalty.RIP Cpl. John Lwane Lumumba,” he added.
