Safaricom PLC has shared updated M-Pesa charges for sending and withdrawing money for 2025.

These are charges that a customer incurs depending on the amount of the transaction and the transaction type.

The cost of sending money via M-Pesa has been harmonized across networks.

Transfers to Airtel Money and Telkom’s T-Kash now match the rates for Safaricom-to-Safaricom transactions.

However, transfers to unregistered users have been discontinued due to fraud and money laundering concerns.

For example, sending Ksh1,000 will cost Ksh13, whether transferring to Safaricom, Airtel Money, or T-Kash. 

The maximum amount that can be sent in one transaction is Ksh250,000, with the maximum daily transaction and balance limit capped at Ksh500,000.

Change M-PESA PIN. 

You cannot withdraw less than Ksh 50 at an M-PESA agent outlet. Additionally, to initiate an M-Pesa self-reversal, you need to send the transaction confirmation to 456.

It is also important to note that you cannot deposit money directly into another M-Pesa customer’s account at an agent outlet.

Additionally, for registration at agent outlets, only Kenyan Passports and National IDs are valid documents. However, foreign passports, military IDs, and foreigner certificates can only be used for registration at Safaricom Shops and Care Desks.

For deposits and withdrawals, the valid documentation includes Kenyan Passports, National IDs, Foreign Passports, Military IDs, and Foreigner Certificates.
