US-based Nigerian singer and actor Rotimi in a recent interview revealed that he was romantically involved with someone else when he met his current wife, former Tanzanian songstress Vanessa Mdee.
According to the father of 2, he was still in his ratchet bad boy phase back then but fate somehow smiled on him.
Speaking during a guest appearance at the Breakfast Club, the Power actor revealed his date at the time opted to sleep in as she wasn't feeling quite well leading to Rotimi attending an exclusive party he'd been invited to solo. Interestingly, the singer originally had no intentions of staying long having promised his fling he'd just make a guest appearance then come back to her.
Minutes however, turned into hours soon as he struck a conversation with Vanessa.
"We went to a private party and I actually had a girl there with me. It was like a flirt... you know the old I was still in my old Timmy days still wilding and party. So shawty was like 'I wasn't feeling well, I'm going to stay in' and I was like I have to go to this party real quick it will be like 10 minutes I'm in and out and I'll meet you in a bit.
So I go to the party and all my 'Power' crew was around so I'm like, 'Mahn I see these people every day so I was like I'm good let me do my own thing," narrated the artist.
He went on to add it was practically love at first time when he met his now wife albeit the fact that he'd been previously introduced to her at a past event but had somehow not taken a keen interest on the Tanzanian beauty.
"And then, there she was... like literally seated at the pool table and I was like wow who is this? And then we spoke for like 3, 4 hours. The illest thing I did that I feel changed the trajectory of our relationship is the fact... you know she told, 'You are super lit right now and I really want to get to know you so how about we link up tomorrow,'
I actually told here that I had someone there with me. I told her, 'honestly, I have someone here and I don't wanna cross ties, I don't want to play you like that or put you in a awkward situation where you view me like this type of guy.' Because she could have gone through in life thinking all guys are like that.
So I told her, 'let me handle this first then we will link up when there's no distraction,' and she actually remembered that.
And that is how we met and we have been together ever since. She wasn't living in the States at the time, she was still in Tanzania so she flew out again to meet me and yeah..." the father of 2 recounted.
