Diamond Platnumz has finally addressed why he denied being in a relationship with fellow singer Zuchu during a recent reality show appearance—despite their well-known closeness and relationship.

Speaking during an interview on iHeartRadio, Diamond explained that the situation at the time made it difficult to tell the truth.

“At the show, I was after someone,” he confessed.

“How could I say yes there? If I said yes, imagine… it would have been a mess.”

The Jeje hitmaker revealed that he was romantically involved with someone else during the filming of the show, which is why he couldn’t publicly acknowledge Zuchu as his partner.

“I was cheating there, okay? So how would you expect me to agree that I have someone back home?”

He added that his behaviour was meant to reflect how people genuinely behave in difficult situations.

“I’m trying to show people how human beings really are,” he said.

Although he initially downplayed the relationship by saying Zuchu was “just my artist”, Diamond confirmed:

“Yes, we are together… But when Fantana asked me about it, I had to lie.”

A Look at Diamond & Zuchu’s Relationship

Diamond Platnumz, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma, and Zuchu, born Zuhura Othman Soud, are two of Tanzania’s biggest music acts, both signed to WCB Wasafi.

Speculation about their relationship began in 2021, following multiple joint appearances, romantic-themed music videos, and holidays together. The pair frequently posted affectionate content online, fuelling rumours of a romance.

They later on started dating till this year, where they tied the knot in a private Nikkah wedding.

In their relationship, they have undergone a lot of public scrutiny whereby Diamond has been offending Zuchu and offering her public apology on her concerts. Despite their differences ,they have never really come to address their issues in public.

Zuchu once revealed in wasafi radio that the incident between Diamond and Fantana was the hardest thing she had to go through in her relationship with Diamond.
