Tanzanian songstress Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu, gave her fans a performance to remember after she slipped and fell on stage during the Samia Serengeti Music Festival.
The incident, which was captured in a video now circulating online, happened at midnight on Sunday, April 27, 2025. In the clip, the ‘Naringa’ hitmaker is seen entertaining her fans with high energy while pouring water on herself. However, as she continued to perform, she missed a step, slipped, and fell onto the stage.
Fortunately, Zuchu did not seem hurt by the fall. To show the revellers she was okay, she quickly got back on her feet and continued performing as if nothing had happened, drawing cheers.
Artistes who fell
Zuchu’s experience is not new in the world of live performances. Many other famous artistes have also taken unexpected tumbles on stage.
In 2023, during the SolFest event at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Kenyan rapper Nyashinski fell while making a surprise entrance to perform “Short and Sweet” with Sauti Sol.
Instead of letting the fall ruin the moment, he smoothly turned it into a playful roll, stood up, and continued with the show.
Similarly, in early 2021, Tanzanian artiste Rayvanny slipped during his performance at the Tumewasha Concert in Dar es Salaam. His fall was more serious, forcing him to end his performance early and cancel the event’s after-party. He later assured fans that he was recovering well.

In 2017, Nigerian singer Seyi Shay tripped over the long tail of her jacket during her performance at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Lagos. She quickly stood up and carried on with her set, later blaming the accident on a wardrobe malfunction.
Going further back to 2014, Peter Okoye of the Nigerian duo P-Square fell off the stage during a performance at the Triple 9 Concert in Lagos. He misjudged the edge of the stage, leading to a fall that left him with a hand injury. Despite this, he continued to perform after receiving first aid.
Sadly, not all stage falls have happy endings. South African rapper Costa Titch collapsed during his performance at the Ultra South Africa music festival in Johannesburg in March 2023.

Though he briefly regained his footing, he collapsed again and tragically passed away at the age of 28. An autopsy revealed that a mix of heart strain, chronic stress, and exhaustion contributed to his death.
