Oga Obinna Says Gengetone Star Shalkido is in ICU After Accident Fighting For His Life

Popular Gengetone artiste Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, known as Shalkido, has been hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being involved in a road accident.

 

The news was broken by Stand-up comedian and media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, who revealed that the former Sailors Gang member had an accident in the early morning of Sunday, October 5, 2025, and had been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

 

He went on to say that the singer is in critical condition.

“Shalkido is critical in the hospital. Apparently, he had an accident today early morning. Will update on what happened, where, how, and why. Na tuliwachana vizuri today morning. Keep him in your prayers, kindly,” Obinna said.

Shalkido’s condition

According to Obinna, Shalkido is receiving treatment at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital. He added that the doctor who received him said Shalkido was suffering from internal bleeding in the brain and had a broken left leg.

 

“We are in the KU referral hospital, and things are not looking up because of a few factors. When we came in, tukapelekwa mbaka place yuko, yuko kwa ICU,” Obinna revealed.

Moments before accident

In addition, Oga Obinna said that before the accident, he was with Shalkido in Thika and had invited him to perform at his show.

He added that when they were leaving, they lost him at some point. When they met at the merging road to Thika, he was on his bike. Obinna said he fueled his bike, and they proceeded, and that this happened at around 4 a.m.

The Wanyola hitmaker went on to say that the artiste had travelled from Thika back to Nairobi on his motorcycle without any issues, but hours later, reports emerged that he had been hospitalised in critical condition.

 

“When we were leaving, we lost him at some point. When met at the merging road to Thika. He was on his bike. I fueled his bike, and we proceeded. This was 4 am,” Obinna narrated. 

 

“We went until just past KU. He waved at us as he took an exit, and we proceeded with our journey.”

However, Obinna did not disclose the cause of the accident or where it occurred.
