Njugush reveals a lie he told during high school to ensure he wasn't bullied

High School for most was a vicious jungle and we all know the law of the jungle dictates survival for the fittest and no one truly grasped this concept better than globally celebrated comedian, creative script writer and author Timothy Kimani, popularly known as Njugush.

The father of 2 recently shared one of the biggest lies he told back in his teen years in order to ensure he had a smooth sailing encounter while in school leaving his wife, digital content creator Celestine Ndinda aka Wakavinye and their multitude of fans in stitches as he recounted his past struggles.

"When I was in high school, I went and found things were different from what I was used to back in primary school. And mind you, I went to school in the village. I quickly noticed people who were from the city weren't bullied or picked on, everyone wanted to be their friend," started off the stand up comedian.

He went on to add, "the people bullying each other were fellow village people, so when someone from the town comes wanakuona wewe ni mjanja wanataka kukuwa beshte yako. I also noticed people from the coastal region... well there were only 2 guys from coast and they had that rich Swahili accent. Just like the kids from the city, these ones were kept close everyone wanted to be their friend,"

Following this analysis Njugush developed a simple plan to not only make himself more likeable but also ensure he wouldn't get picked on as he was a villager with a very common name.

According to the now author, he'd still claim his Kikuyu lineage but add a little spice to it.

"I decided mimi si mkikuyu, I came up with a fake scenario where I was a half-cast. My dad was the one who was a Kikuyu and then I'd make my mom a Taita. And I decided I wouldn't lie we're from Mombasa because I didn't have the coastal accent, Taita was more believable because you know they don'y have hiyo Kishwali ya chumvi," Njugush narrated.

Unable to contain her laughter his wife, Cele asked if he'd also created a fake name to go with this new identity. To which Njugush responded by saying, "no, si I had taken my dad's name but my brother is the one who had one that isn't traditional.

The only problem is that my mom used to come to school and converse with other parents in vernacular. So I had to add another layer of lies and be like, 'you know after she got married to my dad she just had to learn his language. You know her people even chased her away because they didn't want her marrying outside the culture and she defied that,"
