Nandy Explains Why Yammi Had To Pay Tsh100m For Contract Termination
African Princess Music Record Label CEO, Nandy, has addressed for the first time claims made by former signee, Yammi, that she demanded Tanzanian Shillings 100 million for the termination of her contract.
Speaking during a press conference, Nandy confirmed that the demand for Tsh100 million from Yammi was true, explaining that the contract for early termination stipulated this figure.
“It’s true because that’s how the contract agreement was; if you terminate before the agreed time. The amount you are supposed to pay, I think it would have been even more than that, but due to our good relationship and because she is still a young artist who is finding her way, we gave her a chance to decide what price she was comfortable with, and she was comfortable with that price, so we accepted it as a thank you,” Nandy further revealed.

The conversation also touched upon the emotional aspect of artists leaving a label. Nandy expressed that she is not hurt when artists depart because she believes everything happens with God's plan.
She emphasized that the label wishes for their former artists to continue to grow and succeed, as their success ultimately promotes The African Princess, acknowledging them as products of The African Princess Label.
“It doesn’t hurt seeing artists leave the label because I believe everything happens with God’s plan. As a label, it’s our wish that she continues to grow and do well because in doing so, she promotes The African Princess Label as she is a product of The African Princess family,” the women-only record label CEO clarified.

Adding to the narrative, Nandy addressed Yammi's public claim that Nandy ignored her calls for two days when Yammi was launching new music. Nandy emphatically denied receiving any such call.

Nandy noted that Yammi did not inform her about any launch plans at that time.
She even tried to reach out to Yammi via Instagram DM after seeing an interview where the claim was made, asking, "You called me for two days. When? I didn't see the call.”
A few days ago while launching her first music project as a solo artist, Yammi said she was asked by Nandy to pay Tsh 100 million, which is equivalent to Ksh 4.8 million, after terminating her contract, which she said to some poi9nt pushed her to depression.
It should be noted that on 5th May 2025, Nandy released a statement via her Social media pages clarifying that Yammi and her had concluded to terminate Yammi’s contract with the African Princess Record Label.
She however didn’t mention that Yammi was subjected to a penalty of Tsh100m for contract termination, but just wished her well in her music journey away from the label.
“African Princess Records would like to officially inform all music stakeholders, media personnel, and fans that our beloved artist, Yammi, has officially concluded her management contract with our label,” the statement read in part.
