MP Peter Salasya: Fake Lifestyle Is Killing Many

MP Peter Salasya has advised young Kenyans to avoid living fake lifestyles to make it appear like they have made it.
According to Salasya, such habits will lead you to an early grave.

"Kitu mbaya inayoumiza vijana kwa mitandao ni kuwa wanakaa lifestyle kubwa. I always tell people: Live within your means. The moment you fail to live within your means, you will die,” Salasya advised

Most people are known to embrace the Nairobi party life, he advised

“You must be considerate to yourself. Only drink when it is necessary,”

He went on to reveal despite his humble beginnings he was still chose as MP.

“I accepted myself when I was studying at Egerton University and used to live in a Ksh1,500 house. In fact, I was told that it was a rip-off and that the house should have cost Ksh600 per month.

I was voted to parliament when I was living in a house which cost me Ksh4,500 a month in rent,” he added during a recent TV interview.

His sentiments were recently echoed by rapper Wangechi.

According to her what you see posted is different from the reality on the ground.

“90%of Kenyan celebrities fake their lifestyle. There’s not enough money circulating in the industry for the luxury life you see being posted”.

Singer Madini also weighed in on the topic, saying that most artists and celebrities are faking their lifestyles.

" 80% of Kenyan celebrities only own good phones and a ring light. Most people faked it until they made it. Do not forget being a public figure is also a lifestyle of its own so yeah it's allowed to fake."

1. If the person always seems to be posting flashy content but remains vague about what exactly they do for a living, high chance are they are leading a fake lifestyle.

2. If the person is living beyond apparent means. An example is if someone is a nurse but always flies private or always appears to be on vacation-probably faking it.

3. Social Media Manipulation. This includes things such as the use of heavy filters, borrowed images, or carefully curated posts showing only glamour moments.

4. Lack of genuine professional network. They claim to be a doctor but have no single doctor in their circle of friends or are able to refer you to one? Red flag!

5. Avoiding specific details. If they are always dismissive whenever presented with questions about their line of work, they are also probably faking it.

7. If they are always posing with rented luxury cars or homes but never showing routine daily use, chances are it's probably fake. All these are some of the ways you as a media consumer can use to gauge the authenticity of your favorite celebrities.
