Microsoft, through its Africa Transformation Office (ATO), has announced a new initiative to accelerate the growth of AI-driven startups across Africa.
The initiative features a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA and builds on the success of the Microsoft African Startups AI Fest held earlier this year.
Startups will benefit from NVIDIA’s Inception program, which provides access to advanced technology, industry mentorship, and networking opportunities with venture capitalists and global partners.
Microsoft will complement this with resources like Azure, GitHub, technical mentorship, and go-to-market support to help startups scale globally.
Gerald Maithya, General Manager of Microsoft ATO, highlighted the partnership’s goal to empower African entrepreneurs: “We aim to equip startups with the tools and support they need to succeed globally, leveraging AI to solve Africa’s unique challenges.”
Africa’s booming tech ecosystem, bolstered by a dynamic workforce and over 2,400 active AI startups, offers fertile ground for innovation.
Success stories like Kenya’s Snark Health, Nigeria’s Aibanc, and Morocco’s PCS Agri demonstrate AI’s transformative impact across industries, from healthcare to agriculture and fintech.
The initiative will also involve workshops, AI training sessions, and hands-on mentorship through the Microsoft Africa Development Center (ADC) in Nairobi, ensuring entrepreneurs have access to world-class resources.
