The Mens Conference Chairman Stephen Letoo has provided guidance to men for Valentine's Day. Speaking while issuing a statement, Letoo instructed his fellow men that their organisation was now legally recognised.
"One year since we held our inaugural conference in Carnivore, the men's conference group has made a milestone and is now fully registered as required by our laws and the constitution."
On his Instagram as well, Letoo tagged two other men who walked with him.
"Our sole mandate is to champion the well-being of the boy child commemorated every 14th of February, on Valentine's Day. This day is fast approaching," he shared details.
Adding their focus will be road safety focusing on boda boda riders.
"Majority of those who lost their lives sadly are boda boda riders who are part and parcel of the men's conference group. 99 % of the riders are men and we care for our fellow men."
Letto in the statement decried the huge rate of deaths on roads, citing a published report by the Transport Authority, NTSA, which in its annual report 2023, disclosed that 3,609 people lost their lives in road accidents that year.
"We want to discourage a situation where a man leaves the house in the morning and never returns home leaving behind orphans and widows just because he died on the road."
The organisers intend to launch a year-long men's conference road safety campaign. The campaign is dubbed 'DONATE A REFLECTOR JACKET AND SAVE OUR MEN'.
It will be launched at Uhuru Park on Wednesday, and it will run until Tuesday midnight 13th February the eve of the men's conference day.
