Masterpiece opens up about transitioning from gospel to secular music

Former gospel singer Masterpiece has opened up about his decision to switch to secular music and his thoughts on the current state of the gospel industry.
In an interview with Oga Obinna, Masterpiece expressed his belief that the gospel scene is thriving but emphasized the importance of authentic music.
“They should do real gospel and not…” he stated.
Regarding his own decision to leave gospel music, Masterpiece explained that he wanted to break free from limitations.
“I don’t want to put myself in a box,” he said. “I always stand my ground.”
While he has transitioned to secular music, Masterpiece clarified that he has not abandoned his faith.
“I’ve not left Gospel. Mi ni wa Mungu,” he stated. “I go to church. I live a Christian life.”
The singer admitted that his journey has been challenging but expressed gratitude for his family’s support.
“It’s been a crazy ride,” he said. “All I can say is never give up, God has the final say.”
With his Real name as Emmanuel King, born 1997, Master Piece was born and raised in Mombasa. He is a Kenyan male of Arabic decent and a firstborn in a family of three sibling.
He started his music career at a tender age of 13, and at 15 years Master was the new kid causing a stir in the Gospel industry. Being the youngest nominee, his song “Kofi Yoo” won him the Mwafaka Best Video of the Year award.
He started rapping at class six in at her mothers church the “International Christian Centre” (ICC), Mombasa where she is a pastor. In Class Eight, He met gospel singer Cabbasa who in turn introduced him to J Blessing ( a top gospel music producer) and together they introduced him to the gospel music industry.
While still in school master piece was being managed by j blessing who was his manager through link video global and he managed to complete secondary education at Bi- Nuru high school in Mombasa.
Master piece is well known for his unique swag and different styles of coloured hair, which changes every now and then. Sometime he looks ling a scarlet songbird sometimes like a Tanager.
