Man suspected of killing Radio44 presenter Lilian Achieng Aluko arrested by DCI detectives

Police on Friday, November 8 arrested George Mwenda Mutegi, a man who reportedly killed his girlfriend before fleeing.

Mutegi was arrested in Kaanwa Trading Centre in Tharaka Nithi County following intelligence leads.

Lillian Achieng Aluko, who was a presenter ar Radio44, was found dead in Mutegi’s three-bedroom apartment on November 1, 2024.

Initial reports had indicated that Lilian had on Thursday last week spoken to her family, telling them she would spend the night at her boyfriend’s place.

Her mother recounted, “She left at around 11 am and told me she went to her friend. She did not return. On Friday, minutes to 9, I received a call from an unknown number.”

But according to a report, police say that Mutegi and the deceased were living together as husband and wife in Kahawa West until the fateful night.

“… It is believed that the suspect stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife leading to her death,” the police report says.

When police found Lilian’s body, she had visible facial injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear.

Meanwhile, neighbors reported hearing a violent fight that night. The loud stereo made it hard for them to intervene, and the door was locked.

A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

The suspect has been placed in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.
