Lupita Nyong'o shares books helping her deal with heartbreak

Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o who recently broke up with her American boyfriend Selema Masekela has shared how she is dealing with the pain of heartbreak.

Taking to Instagram, the 40-year-old revealed she is currently reading various books to enable her to heal and move on saying the copies have done wonders and requested more suggestions from her fans.

“These books are doing wonders for me. Do you have any to add to the list? #Heartbreak #Healing #GiftIdeas,” she wrote.

Some of the books showcased have genuinely insightful titles including When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron, A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, Untamed by Glennon Doyle, All About Love by Bell Hooks and You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith.

Lupita announced her split from her ex-lover in October this year saying the embers of their love were extinguished by deception.

"I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, “Whatever, my life is better this way.” But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love," she stated.

"At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust."

Lupita has been dating the 52-year-old TV host and sports commentator since 2022. Masekela also runs a surf apparel company, Mami Wata, which was launched in April 2022 in Venice, California.

"I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass. The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness," Lupita stated.
