Gospel singer Loise Kim has shared a shocking account of theft that occurred at the burial of late gospel singer Betty Bayo, urging Kenyans to exercise vigilance during large events.
In a post shared on Facebook hours after the burial on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the ‘Ruriri Rurathime’ hitmaker described how the incident unfolded as the funeral came to a close.
She recounted approaching her parked car after the ceremony and noticing a man seemingly busy near the vehicle. To her shock, he had gained access to the car and collected handbags belonging to her and others.
“This evening, as we concluded the burial ceremony at the gravesite… And it was time to leave.. I approached where I had parked my car, and from a few meters I saw a man inside, and it was like he was busy. He got access to my car,” the singer shared.
Loise wrote that the man attempted to claim he was not stealing, but the situation made it evident that theft had occurred.
The singer expressed that she was left in utter disbelief and called on Kenyans to be alert when attending major gatherings.
“I rushed there and found that he had collected our handbags and was ready to leave.. I was shocked to the maximum.. He tried to say that he was not stealing but It was evident that he was,” she added.
She further highlighted that personal items, including phones, were reportedly lost by several attendees, among them her sister, Pastor Anne Lawrence, emphasising that such incidents are not isolated.

Loise urged everyone to be cautious with their belongings during large events, warning that vigilance in car security and safeguarding personal items is crucial to avoid similar misfortunes.
“I kindly want to advise Kenyans at large.. When we have big events as such let us be vigilant in car safety and phones, because also today people lost phones, including my sister, Pst Anne Lawrence, and other personal items in a very large number. Still in shock,” she added.
The theft occurred as mourners were leaving the gravesite following the emotional farewell of Betty Bayo.
The burial took place at her Mugumo Estate home after a ceremony at Ndumberi Stadium, which drew a large turnout of fans, family, friends, and fellow gospel artistes.
Only close relatives and friends were allowed inside the homestead for the final interment.
Betty Bayo, known for hits such as “11th Hour” and “Busy Busy,” passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, following a brief battle with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).
The burial was officiated by Bishop Michael Wanderi of the Christian Foundation Fellowship, where Betty had ministered, and was marked by prayers, emotional tributes, and the laying of flowers by family and friends.
The final rites concluded at approximately 6 pm, and mourners slowly dispersed, many still deeply affected by the loss of the celebrated gospel singer whose music touched countless lives across Kenya.
