Khaligraph’s Response to Podcaster Claiming He is Fake in Everything He Does

Renowned Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has responded to sharp criticism from podcaster Rapcha Sayantist, who accused the artist of inauthenticity across various aspects of his public persona and career.
Jones shared a video clip of Sayantist's remarks on his Instagram page, accompanying it with his own distinctive reaction.
Accusations of Inauthenticity
The video clip, posted by Jones, features a speaker identified as Rapcha Sayantist making pointed claims about the rapper.
Sayantist explicitly referred to Khaligraph as a "fala". He asserted that "everything about him is fake.
This alleged lack of authenticity, according to Sayantist, spans from Jones's accent to what he described as the "faking of the Kayole story" – a reference to Khaligraph's purported background from the Kayole area.
Sayantist went further, claiming that Khaligraph's style of dress and his music also contain "element[s] of fakeness".
“Khaligraph ni fala. Everything about him is fake from the accent to the faking of the Kayole hood story to how he dresses,” Rapcha said.
Sayantist supported his accusations by stating that ordinary Kenyans do not speak in the manner Khaligraph often employs on the street.
He declared, "mimi nilisemanga from day one, Khaligraph ni mseh imbo," indicating his long-held belief that Khaligraph is an authentic figure.
The Importance of 'Hood' Representation
Emphasising his own roots, Sayantist highlighted his experience of living in Kayole, stating, "mimi ni mtu nimeishi Kayole". He firmly maintained that he had "never met in Kayole" anyone who speaks like Khaligraph does.
Sayantist articulated a core principle regarding authenticity in rap, asserting that it is "basically impossible" to genuinely represent a 'hood' if one does not communicate like its residents.
“There is no one I ever met in Kayole that speaks like that. I know rap music, but you cannot represent a hood if you cannot talk like people from that hood.”
He offered an example, stating that if he were to represent Githare, he would do so "in words in thought in thinking unajua na pia in reasoning".
He further explained that a local from Mathare would instinctively understand his portrayal of their neighbourhood, even recognising "sheng ya 90s" if he used it, as it would authentically mirror their way of life and language.
Jones's Instagram Response
Khaligraph Jones's reaction on Instagram combined a direct acknowledgement of the criticism with an element of irony.
His caption accompanying the shared video suggested that merely mentioning his name can "Boost career yako ama kuongeza traction kwa podcast".
Addressing Rapcha Sayantist directly, Jones stated, "wacha leo nikupatie Your breakthrough my G". He recognised Rapcha's dedication, noting, "ume hustle sana".
Significantly, Jones directly referenced Sayantist's specific accusation regarding his origins, writing, "umesema ata Me si mtu wa Kayole".
He concluded his caption by encouraging his followers to support Sayantist, instructing them to "make sure you follow Him, his Account is @rapchasayantist".
Jones also hinted at an upcoming release, mentioning "Chains and whips freestyle dropping in a few" and included the hashtag "#respecttheogs".
