The highly anticipated Furaha City festival kicked off this past weekend, but an altercation between Willy Paul and Diamond Platnumz's team quickly took center stage.
The incident sparked protests from Kenyans, who called on stage managers and security officials to improve coordination and better support local artists.
They also rallied behind Willy Paul, reminding him that despite the setback, he still delivered an outstanding performance that night.
The drama unfolded when it was alleged that Diamond requested an adjustment to the performance schedule, wanting to go on stage earlier than planned.
According to the original lineup, Paul was set to perform before Diamond, but he was blocked from doing so, resulting in a tense tug-and-shove confrontation.
The crowd, however, continued chanting "Pozze! Pozze!" in support of Willy Paul, demanding that he perform before Diamond Platnumz.
Meanwhile, Paul's music is trending on TikTok, with fans using his songs to highlight how he has overcome numerous challenges in his career, rising to become one of the top-rated artists in the country.
The lack of proper protocol during the incident has prompted reactions from various celebrities, including Stevo Simple Boy, Akothee, DJ Shiti, and Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, all of whom have weighed in on the situation.
“Kusema ukweli, Kenyan promoters, learn to appreciate your own. Mnajua Kenya ndio imebeba Africa. My brother Pozze deserves 100% attention,” said Stivo Simple Boy.
“Willy, you killed it. We love you. 2025!! Let’s do something. It’s about time. Claim that position, then smash it!! Nayo nayoo, bro!!!” added Mwalimu Churchill.
