Fans' favourite musical Sarafina is coming to Kenya for the second time after five years since the first edition.
In an interview with Kalondu Musyimi,, the the director of the musical, Stuart Nash said it has taken months of rehearsal as most fans had requested to bring it back.
"It is probably the play that people have requested the most and 'I Will Marry When I Want' by Ngugi Wa Thiong'o. So both of those, people ask when we are doing them again."
The musical was planned to be performed in October last year but the Kenya National Theatre was closed for renovations.
Stuart is bringing a totally new cast from the last performance of the musical on stage. "The whole production is brand new, the sets are bigger and nobody in this production was in the original one that we did but the stage manager is the same."
Lorna Lemi will be playing Sarafina while Wakio Mzenge is playing Mary Masembuko. The musical is a duplicate of the 1992 drama which takes fans through the life of a young black South African girl struggling for freedom during the apartheid.
The Kenyan musical is by Nairobi Performing Arts Studios and the creator of 'I Will Mary When I Want', 'Betrayal In The City' and 'Shamba La Wanyama.'
It will go down at the 15th of August to the 25th of August at the Kenya National Theater.
