Actress Jackie Matubia has some words of advice for single moms about handling 2024. "Let's talk about 2024 resolutions," she guided her fans in her YouTube video.
Describing 2023 as tough and beautiful, Jackie reflected on her breakup that led to her new status as a single mom, saying, "Speaking from a single mom perspective, there is a lot of fear. Let's encourage each other. I have fears, and I tell myself, 'Will I be able to hold the family by myself and at the same time achieve as Jackie personally?'"
She was comfortable before when she was with her baby daddy but had to come out of that. "That fear, I say, if something doesn't scare you, then it's not even worth thinking about. It should make you afraid; that's what pushes you," she carried on.
She looked back about how strong she had had to be last year. "My resolution this year was to call God, hello mbinguni, to say, by the way, I do not want to be, Lord, I do not want to be amongst your strongest soldiers. Please, please 2024. Maze 2023, it was a battalion; I was at the forefront. I was the champion, but 2024, please God, I just want to be, thank you, you did it," she said.
She wants her tears to be about celebrating being a successful single mom. "I want my tears to be about joy. This year I want girl treatment. Soft girl treatment, that is what I want this year."
The actress also spoke about being very critical of herself, as do countless single moms. "Oh, I'm not living in the best of estates, I'm not driving the best of the cars, and it's just me. How do my children view me? But hello, you are not homeless; your children don't go to bed hungry."
She advised single moms that providing what they can is an achievement.
"I've experienced so many calls from my friends who are also single. You find someone calling, crying to me about what they will do.
Oh, this guy was to pay school fees, whatnot, and that's why one thing we single mothers need to heal from is waiting for a man to provide. In this day and age, we need to stop waiting for a man to do everything for you." She added that this only shows how dependent a woman is, leading to a controlling man.
"This is the year of let's control ourselves. The children are yours at the end of the day," she continued to advise. "If he wants to be a defaulter, he is a defaulter. You cannot force someone to see his children."
