Jackie Matubia opens up about co-parenting and failed marriages

Award-winning actress and content creator Jackie Matubia recently opened up about her experiences with co-parenting and the challenges she faced during her marriage.

Despite two serious relationships that ended unsuccessfully, Jackie emphasizes that she holds no bitterness.

In an interview with Dr. Ofweneke, the actress shared her painful struggles with her ex-husband, describing the difficulty of their separation and her efforts to maintain his presence in their daughter's life.

"When I told the dad to go, he left. And in my head, this is not my first time raising a child outside of marriage and co-parenting. I fought — God knows I fought. Mimi na kiburi yangu, I fought for the dad to be in the daughter's life."

Now a mother of two, Jackie has been through two serious relationships that didn’t work out. She advises young women to prioritize self-growth and avoid the assumption that pregnancy alone will secure commitment.

Jackie also appreciates the strong bond her first child's father has built with their daughter, stressing the importance of a healthy relationship with a co-parent over focusing on past negative experiences.

"But he didn’t. And you can’t force a man — You cannot, you cannot. For girls who think getting pregnant will keep a man, just know you’ll end up raising that child alone. I tried because I see the impact of having an involved father, like with my other daughter’s dad. We are very good friends. When you look past the fighting, a man who truly loves and is there for his child means everything to me, regardless of what happened between us."
