How YY's wife Marya overcame her paralysis by graduating while in a hospital bed

Kenyan influencer Marya Okoth has shared how being hospitalized for six months after being paralyzed affected her and her family.

Marya says she has been paralyzed twice before, with the first incident being four months after her daughter's birth.

In an interview with Mungai Eve, she shared

"I labored for three hours.

My pregnancy and labor experience were very smooth.

One day four months after I delivered I tried changing positions and I couldn't.

I couldn't feel one leg, it was like the leg wasn't there at all. "

Marya woke up her partner who called an ambulance

" We went to the hospital and thought it was a quick stop.

The doctors found I had blood clots. I had to be admitted. After the clots dissolved my leg was still unresponsive.

I had to undergo an MRI. I ended up in hospital for 6 months.

When I got pregnant, the baby lay on the nerves near the spine and I ended up having water in my discs.

Four months after the birth of my daughter my nerves collapsed. "

Marya says she was given a few options among them a surgery

"The doctor advised me against it because of how delicate it is.It was easier to lose a leg than not to recover from the surgery.

I was given medication to dry up the water before starting therapy.

There was no guarantee that I would be well."

She praised her husband YY for being supportive and taking care of their daughter the entire time.

"He slept in the hospital the entire time as he had to help me shower and help me go to the washroom.

I graduated in the hospital and that is the day I decided I would never let anything deter me from achieving something."
