"God is Good": Thanksgiving Prayers Organized for Jose Chameleone

Jose Chameleone walked into Uganda triumphantly on 12th April, after having been away in USA seeking treatment.

His family and friends crammed Entebbe International Airport to receive their son, as a celebratory mood filled the air.

He appeared to be feeling much better as he walked greeting fans, extending their hands.

He has been in the US undergoing treatment for Pancreatisis at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, with alcohol being blamed for the condition.

Mass General is named by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's top hospitals and is the only U.S. hospital to be ranked in all medical specialties.

With over 1,200 clinical trials taking place at any given time, Mass General conducts the largest hospital-based research program in the United States.

The Valu Valu hitmaker also dismissed claims that alcohol was solely responsible for his medical condition.

Chameleone confirmed that he was being treated for pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas – the organ behind the stomach that produces digestive enzymes and hormones.

The singer, while seated next to his brother, disputed that his ailment was not solely as a result of alcohol, as has been alleged online.

He emphasized 3 factors that medical experts believed to be responsible: including lifestyle habits.

“There are a number of factors, including stress, DNA (genetics), and lack of sleep,” he shared.

New-medical.net says chronic stress appears as a risk factor to develop pancreatitis.

In people with these DNA changes, the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas may be more likely to fail or die when exposed to stress and inflammation.

When he was preparing to fly to the US, Chameleone said his pancreas had degenerated to the point where it was not producing enough enzymes to break down food. In February, his doctors elected to carry out a surgery to remove the affected tissue. He also revealed that he was placed on powerful medicine known as Creone, whose three-month dose cost up to Shs 30 million.

Health Directs also says the 2 most common causes of pancreatitis are gallstones and heavy alcohol consumption.

Around 1 in every 2 people with acute pancreatitis have been heavy drinkers.

Gallstones cause most of the remaining cases. Gallstones are like little pebbles in your gall bladder, an organ that is next to your pancreas. Your gallbladder and pancreas both help to digest your food and share a common entry tube (duct) to your gut. The stones can block this duct from your pancreas, so the juices can’t escape. This causes inflammation.

Other less common causes of pancreatitis include external factors such as:

-a heavy blow to your abdomen, such as in a car accident

-surgery to your pancreas

-some medicines
