From Criminal Past to Divine Calling: Pastor Ng’ang’a Reflects on His Unprecedented Journey

Pastor James Ng’ang’a, known for his outspoken and lively demeanor, recently revealed a more personal side in a rare interview with Kenya Diaspora TV.
Ng’ang’a, typically recognized for his fiery sermons and reluctance to discuss personal matters, opened up about his past involvement in crime, his journey to faith, and the struggles he and his wife faced.
During the interview, Ng’ang’a shared their heartbreak over their difficulties in conceiving a child. He recounted a pivotal moment during a sermon in Nyahururu, where he, influenced by a fellow preacher speaking in tongues, began speaking in an unknown language himself.
“I prayed for people, including a white person,” he recalled with amusement. “People started falling down. I didn’t want to seem foolish, so I started speaking in tongues too!”
This seemingly accidental act led to a powerful realization. As Ng’ang’a moved through the crowd, people fell when he touched them. Despite not having witnessed televangelists like Benny Hinn, he discovered he possessed a unique gift.
His preaching partner, recognizing his anointing, encouraged Ng’ang’a to lay hands on people and declare “release.” The result was that everyone fell.
Ng’ang’a also shared a chilling encounter with the devil, who threatened him for leading people to salvation. Fearful, he considered abandoning his newfound purpose. However, an encouraging voice urged him to continue, and when those he touched rose unharmed, his fear subsided, marking a turning point for him.
This insight into Pastor Ng’ang’a’s life provides a deeper understanding of the man behind the microphone.
