Eliud Kipchoge has revealed why he has never had a driver despite the fame. He is an award-winning marathoner. Kipchoge became the first ever person to run a marathon in under two hours.
In an interview with NTV's Benard Ndong, He shared he has never seen the need to have a driver.
"I do not have a driver nor have I ever hired one in my entire career. I drive and so does my wife so I do not see the need for a driver. I am not an over speeding driver, I observe the rules. Even if I am to go somewhere I always leave early so that I do not have to rush."
Kipchoge also revealed he enjoys music during long drives.
"I also drive in a way I would be able to control the car. I enjoy long drives…it helps me to be calm and get rid of other things on my mind. I enjoy listening to Kenny Rodgers, Kelly Clarkson while driving."
He also advised people to embrace humility saying.
"It’s good to be humble, I believe being humble is the only thing a human being should be. What has killed many people is the disease called ‘special’ If you are not grounded your mind will not work."
The athlete is one of the few people who has a signature car named after him. In May 2023 Isuzu East Africa unveiled Eliud Kipchoge's 1.59 special D-max Edition.
The limited edition was created to honour marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge, who in 2019 did the Ineos 1:59 Challenge, breaking the two-hour mark for running the marathon distance, which he achieved in a time of 1:59:40.2.
The wheels and the rim are black to symbolise the people of Kenya. It also has 1:59 from his performance at INEOS with his signature at the door and the mats.
