Eddie Butita reveals he is working on a new script inspired by Monica kimani's murder case

Comedian and creative director Eddie Butita has revealed that he is currently working on a script that has taken inspiration from businesswoman Monica Kimani's murder case.

Butita made the revelations through his official X account following the court ruling on Friday, February 9, 2024.

"I have been working on great script inspired by Jacque and Jowie's case. Finaly the judgement is out, now let us tell the story. Script mode activated," Butita wrote.

In the ruling rendered by Justice Grace Nzioka, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie was found guilty of the murder which happened on September 19, 2018, after close to a five-year court trial.

“It is the finding of this court that the first accused person (Joseph Irungu) murdered Monica Kimani. I find the first accused person guilty as charged,” the judge ruled.

According to court, the second accused Jacque Maribe was acquitted since there was no adequate evidence linking Maribe to the murder.

"The prosecution did not adduce adequate evidence to find the second accused person (Jacque Maribe) guilty of the offence of murder,” Nzioka ruled while reading the judgment at Milimani Law Courts.

Adding;

"The result is that the prosecution did not adduce enough evidence for this court to find the second accused person guilty of the offence of murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani on the night of September 19, 2018."

Notably, a number of new generation shows and films borrow characters, and plot points, from true crime events among public and historical figures.

The authenticity adds a thrill -that lacks in fictional films- to audiences who happen to be fans of the macabre beyond the film.

The real-life aspect also makes the murder stories a lot darker, since it is bound to morbid stories that have haunted real people in real life. It makes the horror of the series more real, and hence, much more horrifying
