Dufla reveals he's suffering from Red-eye disease amid outbreak in Tanzania

Kenyan musician Dufla Diligon has revealed he is experiencing the 'red-eye' condition, amid a surge of Keraconjuctivities, commonly known as 'red eyes,' in Tanzania.

Through his Insta stories, Dufla noted that he developed the condition a few days ago thinking that he wasn't getting enough sleep.

"I thought hii story ya red eye ni mimi tu!!! A few days ago I developed a red eye hadi sahizi iko I thought ni usingizi wapi I have been sleeping mapema lakini wapi is still there!! Advice please!" he shared.

On Monday, January 16, Tanzanian health authorities issued a high alert on the outbreak of red eye, characterized by eye redness from swollen or dilated blood vessels.

Pascal Ruggajo, the Director of Curative Services in the Ministry of Health, reported a significant increase in cases, with 869 patients identified in Dar es Salaam between December 22, 2023, and January 11, 2024.

According to Ruggajo, symptoms include itching, a burning sensation, and increased tearing. Remedies range from gentle eyelid washing to prescribed medications recommended by eye care specialists.

Tanzanian rapper Rosa Ree has also disclosed that she and her family members are suffering from the condition.

Sharing on social media, Ree issued a warning about the contagious nature of the illness, noting that it can spread when someone with the disease touches their eyes or objects, putting others at risk.

She pointed out symptoms such as flu, headaches, diarrhoea, teary eyes, persistent coughing, itchy and red eyes, loss of appetite, and nausea.

Ree suggested keeping children away from school until the outbreak is under control.
